We travelled to Las vegas and Grand Canyon from 11th to 14th of September this year. But we had to extend out stay at las vegas till 17th because Ike struck in Houston. Anyway I enjoyed the tour and took view good snaps in both the places. I am going to share some of the snaps with you so that I can get some feedback. I enjoyed being at grand canyon although we could not find any lodging inside the gran canyon national park. We stayed at Red feather lodge at Tusayan only few miles away from the grand canyon national park. we started from Las vegas around 10 am and reached at Tusayan around 3 pm. It was a nice journey. Las vegas is devoid of any greenery and as we cross from Nevada to Arizona I can feel the transition. I can see bit of greenery as we approached Arizona grand canyon national park. Roadside scenaries are breathtaking. Yellow sunflowers were almost everywhere beside the roads. There is free bus service in the grand canyon national park so that one can travel from one point to other point without car. The bus service is frequent and the bus drivers are also very friendly. We watched the sunset from yaki point in grand canyon. It was spectacular view. All of us who were present there enjoyed absolutely, sun going down at the lap of grand canyon. What I enjoyed most the silence and the surround atmosphere. Nobody wanted to disturb the natures own beauty of silence. As if everybody wanted to be united with that moment and be a part of it. It is a very nice moment I will remember for a long time. As the sun went down the temperature became bit cool. We were there waiting for 20 minutes for the bus and watching the moon coming out in the east. I could see few people coming to the yaki point after sunset just to feel the beauty of the night with camping accessories. We had our dinner at a restaurant inside the national park. Everybody seemed very happy after watching the sunset. I bought some mementos from the souvenir shop after dinner. There is nothing much to do at night at grand canyon. We went back to the lodge driving through the park.

hellooooooooooooooo,
The sunset photos are very beautiful.I also like the photos of Grand Canyon.Dad says visiting Grand Canyon is his life time dream. He is very happy that you visited the place. Did you get down to the Canyon floor also? One thing I can't understand, why the colours of Colorado river are frequently changing? You should have visited the Huber Dam(the second largest dam in the world). In the photos of Las Vegas you had mentioned 7 hotels but in which hotel you had stayed?
Papa says that Grand Canyon was created over the last millions of years as the American continental plate kept rising bit by bit and the river cut a gorge through the soft sand stone. The canyon walls hold the records of the history of the earth. Fossils of plants and animals are found in those layers of sand stone in abundance. Scientists are finding these fossils and other geologic evidences to build the history of earth. It is really interesting isn't it? Sometimes I wonder how papa came to know all about these.
